RAW PAW: Dreams Challenge
|
|
This image is inspired by capturing my child sleeping. As single mother I often have to sacrifice rest and sleep in order to maximize my productivity and I want to world build while they is sleeping and dreaming.
Some of the elements in this image come from branches of the Broken Windows theory and it goes even further with the theory of multicultural literature by Rudine Sims Bishop.
Bishop he uses "Mirrors, Windows and Sliding Glass Doors" as an analogy to discuss the importance of diversity in books and the authors who write them. As an art educator and avid supporter of art and literacy initiatives this is very important concept for me and my work.
Bishop elaborates that we need books in which children can see reflections of themselves – but also look through and see other worlds. Learn more about Bishop's work by clicking the link below:

The doors and unicorns represent opportunity and imagination that can enhance a persons life. As my child sleeps I ponder about the world they will be in and how I can build a future for my child. The mirrors affirm that our reflection is the answer. To encourage my child to seek answers within.
I am consistently challenging and sharpening my creativity and sales for this shirt and all my apparel support me directly.
You can pre-order this shirt by clicking the link below. Pre-orders end September 4th, however you will still be able to purchase after the pre-order date.
