I am always finding inspiration around me from when I turn the corner of my neighborhood, to the music I listen to, or the books I read. My projects are a deep dive in exploring a specific subjects or contemporary topics. I do extensive amount of research to come up with my visual interpretations. I incorporate a variety of mediums to help me further access and decipher my creativity. Check out my current projects below.
Water, Me and I
This digital illustration is inspired by the essence of water and it's relationship with the Black body across the African diaspora. As Black bodies were pirated and forced to leave their home lands due to the various slave trades; the water has become this eternal portal of memory for those that chose and didn't choose the ocean to be their vessel for eternity. These memories as well as the substance of water is crucial for our survival.

This images explore the various experiences Black bodied peoples have experienced, endured and enjoyed about water.

Take the time to examine and explore the details within the artwork to see how you make connect.

Reflection
- What is your story about water?
- How has water impacted your personal life or cultural history?

Griot Story Guardians
Clay, Play, Read: Clay Studio of Philadelphia and Cecil B Moore Library
oThis was a wonderful project where we explored the intersection between clay making, literacy and storytelling.

I was inspired the importance of West African griots in particular. Griots are vita to their communities and they are key to passing down the information for generations.

In his project I wanted participants to know that they are Griots too and they each carry their own story and experienced that if shared we can learn from or enjoy. Each community member took the time to create a clay figure that represented them or a story that they knew.

Each one of these sculptures was made to guard the stories and passion of each creator. They now sit permanently in the Cecil B. More Library in North Philadelphia to guard the other stories and be enjoyed by others.
